NORFOLK, Va. – The two-time defending Sun Belt Conference Champion Old Dominion Women’s Soccer Team is set to defend its title as the Monarchs face Georgia State in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Monday, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Alabama.

NORFOLK, Va. – The two-time defending Sun Belt Conference Champion Old Dominion Women’s Soccer Team is set to defend its title as the Monarchs face Georgia State in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Monday, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Alabama.

Four weeks ago, these two teams played to a 2-2 tie at Georgia State. Rhea Kijowski scored both goals for ODU, including the equalizer on a penalty kick with one minute remaining in the game.

About ODUThe Monarchs head into the Sun Belt Tournament as the No. 4 seed seeking their third-straight conference championship and second-straight Sun Belt Championship. ODU won the Conference USA Championship in its final season in the league in 2021.

Goalkeeper Emily Bredek was named the Sun Belt Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and Ashlynn Kulha was named the SBC Defender of the Year. Both players earned first-team all-conference accolades while Rhea Kijowski and Andrea Balcazar Algarin were named to the second-team.

Kijowski leads the Monarchs and is fourth in the Sun Belt with 10 goals and is tied for fifth with 21 points. The All-Sun Belt selection ranks second in the league with four game-winning goals.

Ashlynn Kulha has played all 90 minutes in each of the 18 games thus far in 2024. Heading back to last season, she has played in 1,860 straight minutes. Throughout her career, she’s played every minute in 35 of 39 matches.

Ten different Monarchs have scored goals so far this season as Grace Hillis notched her first career goal in the regular season finale at App State to give ODU double-digit scorers on the year. Gry Boe Thrysoe, Katie Lutz and Brooke Edwards are all tied for second with two goals apiece.

About Georgia StateThe No. 5 seed Panthers have a five-game unbeaten streak and have won four-straight games to finish the regular season. The only non-victory for the Panthers is the 2-2 tie against ODU.

Aaliyah Faddoul leads GSU and is fifth in the Sun Belt with nine goals and with three assists is tied with ODU’s Kijowski for fifth in the SBC with 21 points. Faddoul earned first-team all-conference honors and was the Panthers’ lone representative on the all-conference team.

Bree Barley is second on the Panthers with four goals.

Jaddah Foos has played every minute in goal this season for Georgia State, recording 82 saves and a .732 save percentage.
