Jul 18, 2023PBC Announces Women's Soccer Tournament Bracket - Peach Belt Conference
AUGUSTA, GA -- Following the conclusion of a compelling regular season, the Peach Belt Conference has announced the bracket for the 2024 women's soccer tournament. Play will begin with four quarterfinal games this Saturday, Nov. 9, and hosted by the higher seed. The highest remaining seed will then host the semifinals and final Nov. 15 and 17.
Columbus State is the top seed for the PBC Tournament for the third time in the last four years. The defending tournament champions and ranked #2 in the nation, CSU was perfect in the regular season with a 9-0-0 league record. CSU has played in the last four PBC championship games in a row and will host eight-seeded USC Beaufort on Saturday in Columbus.
North Georgia will be the second seed, their second straight year with a top-two seed for the PBC Tournament. The Nighthawks finished with a 5-2-2 conference record following their 1-1 tie against Lander on Monday night and will host seventh-seeded Georgia Southwestern in Dahlonega on Saturday.
Flagler will be the #3 seed for the PBC Tournament. The Saints finished the regular season with a 3-0-1 mark in their final four conference games to rise up the table and finish with 15 points. Georgia College & State University will be the #4 seed, their highest seed since 2015. The Bobcats enter the postseason with the second-longest winning streak in the conference at four in a row.
Clayton State, Georgia Southwestern and Lander all finished the regular-season with 13 points following Lander's tie on Monday against UNG. The Peach Belt tiebreak procedure places all three teams in a mini-conference where their head-to-head results are measured to determine the seeds.
In head-to-head play, Clayton State defeated Georgia Southwestern 2-0 and tied Lander to end up with four total points. Lander tied both the Lakers and GSW for two points while GSW has a loss to the Lakers and the tie with Lander for one point. Given that, Clayton State is the #5 seed with Lander at #6 and GSW #7.
Game times for Saturday's quarterfinals will be announced by the conference office later this week.
